A few months ago, we kicked off an exciting project with Jonatan Garcia, an excellent alpinist from Catalonia. Jonatan came to us with a clear idea in mind: he wanted to enhance the AlpinistPack 25L+ with some new features and vest-like shoulder straps to improve performance. We got to work, and delivered what he envisioned.
The prototype we developed used Ecopak Ultra100X, a lightweight and durable fabric we’ve been testing for future designs. This gave us the perfect opportunity to see how it would perform out in the field. The Vestpack, includes some key features that Jonatan requested: two softflask pockets for hydration, large zippered pockets for gloves and other gear, two large UltraStretch pockets on the body, an additional zippered pocket, and a custom ice tool attachment system using carbon toggles from EliteClimb. Jonatan specifically wanted these toggles to complement his carbon ice axes, and we made sure they worked perfectly together.
What we didn’t expect was how this project would inspire us to explore even more new ideas for future gear. Working with Jonatan has sparked a wave of innovation in our studio, and we’re excited about where it’s taking us.
